One of the most popular fantasy book series ever written, with a potential built in audience in the 10s of millions, and it failed to gain traction. Why? With a huge budget, and a gap in current media for fantasy left by game of thrones there's no reason it shouldn't have gained traction.

Maybe it was the alienation of fans by making huge changes to the plot and characters. Maybe it was the criminally short seasons meaning the vast majority of scenes from the books were cut or drastically altered. Or the complete disrespect and disregard for the lore of the books.

Whatever the reason I'm happy it's over. Maybe one day and animation studio or another run can be done at live action that's actually good and true to the books. If this series had continued it would have been another 10 years of awfulness for me.

Sometimes I wonder why even bother watching the TV Shows made after books, since I can't recall a single show that has ended and was not cancelled midway. Perhaps another reason is also that there is so much time between seasons people forget & loose interest additionally contributing to more and more midway cancellations.

I really enjoyed this shows last season, feel sorry for it being cancelled.

Because you have hope.

Does it have a good ending, haven't even started watching it yet.

In addition to what paisley1 wrote: I read that while filming the latest season they already knew they couldn't be certain there would be more, so they ended it in a way that's not too 'cliffhangy'... Hope that helps. :)

Will be missed.

@Ameriplan

Can't tell you. You have to take the journey on your own. :)

The show is really good, but no, season 3 ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, but 3x4 The Road to the Spear was epic and I think that episode kind of encapsulates what the entire story is about....so my answer is, sort of.

Maybe someone will develop a movie that stays true to the source material for the fans of the books?
