A data analyst who heads up a team of pencil-pushers, each of whom has had their memories surgically split between work and home life, is suddenly alarmed when a colleague goes missing and he begins to realize that the company that he works for is very dangerous.
using that as a starting point you can write all the connecting points between technology, corporation, and cults.
Used to know a guy who, at some point, was hired by Google and worked at their HQ back when they were still at their peak. There were quite a few similarities to someone who's just joined a cult.
...but like all Selvig's at Google, and no Dylans? lolz. I'm assuming everyone at Google is a yes man, how else would they continually create then shelf every idea every year and never follow through on anything.

Or the "Shitloads of questions but no answers award".
What questions do you have that aren't answered after S2? This isn't exactly Lost...
We know a lot by the end of Season 2, but to his point, everything there is to know about Lumon has not been completely unpacked, but you're right it's not LOST bad by any stretch.

Severance should win all the awards, and if it doesn't, they were robbed.
Hmmm, or at least the "Style over Substance" award.

Still convinced that this show started with the phrase "putting the 'cult' in 'corporate culture'" stuck in someone's head and things escalating from there.
That's genius, and you're probably right...using that as a starting point you can write all the connecting points between technology, corporation, and cults. They only dangled the carrot of technology this season with Selvig's backstory, which I think will be expanded upon next season.
The ending with Mark S., it's difficult to know how to feel about his decision, which is why this show is so good.

You're welcome. Both seasons are hard to compare IMHO... In the second season, you don't have the newness of the whole concept, but the way they build upon the first season and expand that universe... wow!

The creativity involved reminds me of https://next-episode.net/legion - just that Severance is less violent. :D
Is season 2 better or just much of the same? Contemplating as to whether I should pick it up or not.
Maybe the Ratings by episode will help guide your decision.
oh wow - thanks Lighton. Never seen that sort of page before.
On the whole, it seems like season 2 did better than season 1.

"What started as a niche sci-fi mystery with a cult following became Apple TV+'s most-watched series ever during its second season run" - NICE! :)

I enjoyed the season finale, 2x10. Curious to see how they'll resolve that ending in the next season. :)
